When you encounter FOD

In many cases, your response is as simple as picking up the FOD and disposing of it properly and safely.

If you find Foreign Object Debris and are satisfied that it caused no Foreign Object Damage, return or dispose of the item properly, then return to work. Report or document the incident if procedures require it.

If you find Foreign Object Debris and do not know if it might have caused Foreign Object Damage, stop work immediately. Inspect for damage and/or report the incident to your supervisor – even if you do not see any damage at first glance.

If you find evidence of Foreign Object Damage, stop work immediately and report the incident to your supervisor. It is almost certain that an investigation will be required.
