Loose parts, packaging materials, and dirt inside of a vehicle can contaminate your shipment during transport. Inspect truck beds, shipping containers and other vehicle environments before loading. Even if your product is sealed, vehicle FOD can sometimes migrate through the packaging, especially if the surface is punctured during transport.
Warehouse environments are, by nature, difficult to keep clean. All manner of packing materials, delivery vehicles, forklifts, drivers, buyers, sales reps and office workers appear around the clock, bringing a constant stream of foreign objects, some larger than pallets and others smaller than tacks.
So, you need to maintain a disciplined “clean as you go” routine just to keep your work area in a reasonably clean condition. When appropriate, inform visitors that FOD-sensitive items exist here and move those splintered skid timbers off my dock right now.
