Loose pieces of hardware (all hardware are parts but not all parts are hardware) account for a large number of recorded FOD incidents. It is easy to lose track of nuts, washers, screws, fastenings and other small items, especially when you have bulk quantities on-hand. As with tools, you must be aware of all parts under your control at all times.
