Millions of dollars are spent each year repairing aircraft engine damage caused by the ingestion of foreign objects from runways and taxiways. One method of attacking this problem is F.O.D. Control Corporation's FODBuster™ Rocksweeper series. This unique sweeper trailer has no internal engine or vacuum system. Its adjustable nylon brush is turned by a heavy-duty traction-driven gearing system linked to its wheels. The sweeper can pick up anything from fine sand to chunks of concrete weighing several pounds. Because there is no engine, normal line trucks can sweep as they perform their regular duties. The sweeper's new adjustable towing eye and debris ramp allow the unit to accommodate various vehicle pintle hook or ball hitch heights. The sweeper has two removable side-mounted debris hoppers. The hoppers slide out for unloading and hold 40 to 60 pounds of debris. There are also optional oversized hoppers that hold 80 to 120 pounds. Brush height is adjusted by a half-inch stainless steel adjustment rod attached to a center-mounted hand crank. The single point adjustment gives the brush a level sweeping action. The non-metallic bristles offer long-term durability.		It has a modular, all-welded main frame, brush swing-arm, bin assembly, and hoppers. All fasteners are self-locking and components can be replaced individually by part number. The towing hitch is a 5.5-inch outside diameter and 2.5-inch inside diameter pintle hook towing eye or ball hitch. For deployment, the tow bar can be detached and strapped to the unit. The sweeper can also be stored vertically to reduce space requirements. The FODBuster Rocksweeper Model RS-96 has two single sweepers mounted side by side with a single tow bar and brush adjustment. The RS-150 Tri-Link combines three sweepers in a triangle formation using a special towing attachment on the lead sweeper. This configuration can sweep a path 11.5 feet wide and up to 1.2 million square feet per hour. A magnetic sweeper attachment is available on all models. This option increases the effectiveness of the sweeper by picking up large and small ferrous debris.
